Symbiomorphs

The Symbiomorphs body of work is comprised of ceramic hybrid organisms that lie somewhere between the animal and vegetable kingdoms. Juxtaposing the hard ceramic surface with soft biological form, I also reference the unseemly folds and textures of the human body and present imperfect bodies as objects of desire. These works examine human relationships, physical and emotional, and present images of ungendered codependency. Each work consists of a pair of forms that hold each other, their alien forms tessellating in tender embrace. The Symbiomorphs celebrate atypical relationships, and offer an example of coexistence that pays no heed to gender roles. This body of work was first exhibited at Form Gallery, NSW in 2016.
